THE HISTORY OF THE LA GRECA FAMILY
The roots of the La Greca family run deep in the land of the former Casabella estate, where it all began with Salvatore La Greca, born in 1863. He was the first to dedicate his life to these lands, establishing a profound bond between the family and the territory. His legacy was carried on by his son, Mariano La Greca, born in 1908, landowner and administrator of the estate’s fields a highly regarded figure within the local community. An enterprising man, well known for his entrepreneurial skills, Mariano was able to expand the family’s assets with intelligence and vision.
The fruit of his work was passed on to his son, Salvatore La Greca, born in 1931, who inherited much of his father’s property. With dedication and foresight, Salvatore preserved its value, further expanding the family’s activities while safeguarding with respect the heritage he had received.
Of his four children Caterina, Rosalia, Mariano, and Carmelo it was especially Mariano and Carmelo who felt the deep call of their roots.
With love and determination, they brought back to life the ancient Sicilian baglio, once the beating heart of rural life, now reborn as a symbol of family memory. It is thanks to them that the family’s farm has been revived carried forward with passion, in the spirit of tradition, yet with an eye to the future, guided by respect for the land and by the precious legacy handed down by those who came before them
